Off Road Elmers 1-9

North 34.14.305' by West 117.51.500' 1491 feet

Here we are at the U. S. Forest Service's Off Road Staging Area (ORV) in the San Gabriel Canyon with Highway 39 to the right. To the left of the picture is a ramp down which Elmers drive their irresponsible toys into the floor of the canyon along which the San Gabriel River flows.

We can see a few of the vehicles that Elmer uses to transport his off road gas guzzlers to the staging area however this is early in the morning before most Elmers are out of bed, and that's why the area is so sparse. Often the ORV is packed with Elmers bouncing around, scraping their vehicles against each other, drunk before noon and throwing their trash all over the place.

Far off in the distance the Forest Service maintains two small shacks, one of which has a radio from which the USFS can telephone for an ambulance (often) for fire fighters (also pretty often) or for police (also pretty often.) The same shack also has a pay telephone which Elmers -- and normal people who also use the highway -- can telephone an operator to place calls.

Here's a close up of the shacks.

The hillside to the right of the picture is heavily covered in brush, a lot of it poison ivy and other plants that like to work their way -- or their oils -- under people's skin.

We here at the Stop Elmer Fudd web site have often spread a bedroll in the brush across from this Elmer Fudd staging area to observe, record, and photograph Elmers, the U. S. Forest Service employees, and the amusing -- as well as not-so-amusing -- ways in which they interact and collide.
